It has an abundance of color plates. It also writes briefly about the taking and selling of slaves (most Viking slaves were procured from areas now associated with Russia, but some were also taken in what is now the UK), and also human sacrifice.
I read the entire book because it was written in 1992 long after I had studied the Vikings and includes new information that was not included in the materials I had long, long ago. There are about 5-7 mistakes that the editors missed, but it is a fine summary and includes some additional documents at the end, such as translated epic poems that were put to paper finally around 1100 AC.
The poems alone are worth reading! Truly marvelous!
