The wool is thicker than a simple knit, so it keeps the wind out and wool naturally repulses water, so it is very helpful in the rain or snow.
There is also some black velvet applique on the front which adds a muted decorative touch.
Use a natural fiber like our ancestors did. Reject plastics (Polyester, acrylic, nylon and so on)!
