I live in Tokyo. I am an American.
I have an unusual situation. I have been learning Japanese and work with Japanese people regularly, but I can not seem to fully understand the language or use it in any kind of effective manner. I think I know what I need to learn to take my learning to the next level, but I don't know how to do it myself. Can you help me?
Specifically, this is what I want to learn:
-- Vocabulary: I would like a vocabulary list of the most important words I need to know and will use on a daily basis living in Japan. I would like a way to learn 10 words a day, and memorize them, and then try to use them in my life.
--Verb conjugation: I am having a hard time remembering all the conjugations for verbs. This is really difficult for me.
-- Most important verbs and using those verbs to have normal conversation: I would love to have a core set of verbs that teach me everything I need to have everyday, simple life conversations.
--Particles: I would like to better understand particle usage.
Additionally, I want to do normal, life stuff with you, like visit a conbini store and you can explain to me the things I will hear there and how I can speak to do simple things, like ask for a piece of chicken at a conbini. I mean, I know how to do it, but I sound stupid, or like I don't know what I am saying. I don't sound like a real Japanese person. I have a list of places I want to go with you to get real life immersion experiences.
Last, I want to learn the writing and reading of Japanese too. I have memorized most of the basic hiragana and katakana tables and a few kanji, but I want to learn everything and find a way to practice all three sets daily. I know there are many apps for my iphone I can use and I have downloaded some of them, but I feel like I have hit a wall with them.
So, if you can help me with any of this, and you really think you can teach me to take that next step with Japanese, I will hire you to teach me once a week.
This is a serious offer, so please be serious too. I need help. I really sound stupid when I speak Japanese because I miss many things and my Japanese is so broken that Japanese people laugh at me when I speak and I have no confidence. I am a good student, however, and with the right teacher, I know I can learn Japanese the right way. My only problem is that I am very busy in life, so please keep that in mind... I need to learn Japanese but in a way that makes sense for me and my busy life.
Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!
