EWA American Embassy Gardens International Preschool is seeking an enthusiastic and caring Special Needs Support teacher to join our team for our daycare program and upcoming summer camp. This is a wonderful opportunity to work in a warm, international preschool environment supporting young children’s learning and development.
Position Details
The position is open during the Summer Camp Period from June 8th to August 14th, 2026.Teachers will work with children aged from preschool to 12yrs old in a play-based, English-language environment that promotes creativity, curiosity, and social development.
Responsibilities
Support the special needs student to focus and attend during class, and follow lead teacher in daily classroom activities
Supervise and engage children in play, learning activities, and outdoor play
Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom environment
Assist with classroom preparation, clean-up, and transitions
Work collaboratively with the teaching team
Support Toileting where needed.
Qualifications
Experience working with young children preferred
Friendly, energetic, and reliable
Comfortable working in an English-speaking classroom
Ability to work as part of a team in a busy preschool environment
Experience in special needs childcare, early childhood education, camps, or teaching is an asset
Requirements
Applicants must currently hold a valid visa permitting work in Japan (the school is unable to provide visa sponsorship)
All successful applicants will be required to complete a background check prior to employment
Compensation
Daycare Staff: From ¥1,687 per hour and up, depending on experience
Summer Camp Staff: ¥674,800 total compensation for the full camp period 10 weeks in summer.
